  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Responsibilities include:

      Assists with daily management of the CM department which includes assessment, resource utilization, safe care, continuous quality improvement, documentation, and discharge planning. Maintains a current working knowledge of regulatory requirements including federal, states, and involved accredited agencies. Serves as resource and educator for same. Communicates information and team needs via varied methods to personnel within hospital, physicians, members of administration, and multidisciplinary team, department managers, and other staff. Assists/chairs committees/task force groups with medical, nursing, and administrative staff. Assists in hiring, orientation, evaluation, and counseling of employees. Assists as needed with standards/performance maintenance with Director for quality practice, productivity, and efficiency. Assists with the assessment, development, implementation, revisions of systems utilized for work flow. Assures timely reports as relevant to department/committee/regulatory needs. In the absence of director, fulfills these responsibilities. Acts as resource with financial, billing, appeals ( internal, external). Ensures confidentiality with management of all health information including initiatives/mandates. Assesses educational needs and works to provide these for staff ( mandatory/voluntary). Supervise/evaluate/assist with clinical reviews and discharge planning when needed. Serves as contact liason for managed care companies and external services/providers. Identifies need and develops workflow and p/p as needed. Maintains staff coverage. Integrate department staff/services with the facility s primary functions, mission and values. Fosters ongoing education and certification for staff. Ensures and supports activities related to performance improvement, infection prevention, cultural sensitivity, and safe/quality care. Serves as resource for physician advisors.

  • Educational Skills Required (Degree(s), Certification(s), License, etc.)
    • New Jersey Registered Nurse License and/or Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) plus New Jersey state licensure (LSW or LCSW) from an accredited School of Social Work required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or Business Administration preferred.
  • Work Experience Required
    • 5 years clinical experience, 2-5 years Utilization Management experience and/or 2-5 years Discharge planning experience required. Able to plan, organize and integrate complex and interdepartmental programs. Able to function independently, establish rapport with physicians and other professionals. Demonstrates leadership qualities including time management, verbal and communication skills, listening skills, problem solving, decision making, priority setting, work delegation and work organization.
