REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Program Management

The BNED Product Development organization is responsible for supporting the business segments through the development, management and go-to-market execution of world-class, demand-driven products and services for faculty, administrators, parents and students including our digital commerce bookstore and digital bookshelf. The Sr. Program Manager will play a critical role in evolving First Day® Complete (FDC) product. First Day Complete addresses affordability and equitable access across all courses at an institution by bundling the cost of materials into a flat rate fee for all students. The program results in a 35% to 50% average reduction in cost to students, and ensures they have all of their materials for the semester available to them before the first day of class. In addition, First Day Complete fully supports academic freedom and faculty choice. Faculty members can choose the materials that are best suited for their teaching, regardless of publisher or format.

The Sr. Program Manager will be responsible for planning, execution, and tracking of multiple related and concurrent workstreams with common goals. This role will partner with product management, architecture, engineering, and the business to provide leadership in implementing the product strategy for our Inclusive Access products. This position will not only focus on the delivery of product releases but also beyond to ensuring a successful launch of the product into the market. This role requires a strong user focus.

While this position’s location is listed in Basking Ridge, NJ, we will also consider candidates working remotely based on the East Coast only.

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Governance of one or more product programs
  • Cross-disciplinary understanding of product management, software development, and quality assurance
  • Drives user-centric product development best practices including supporting an agile development framework
  • Responsible for presenting an accurate view of program health & status (e.g. timeline, dependencies, risks, etc.)
  • Develop mechanisms for cross-workstream collaboration, communication and reporting for complex product programs
  • Ensure required product marketing and user support artifacts are generated and handed off to business partners
  • Will contribute to budget planning and tracking – will support Senior Director in managing vendor expenditures, SOWs
  • Additional responsibilities as required

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years as a Project Manager or Program Manager, experience in an agile product development environment required
  • Experience delivering web applications, consumer technology solutions, digital commerce and/or B-to-B products
  • EdTech experience and exposure to Higher Ed Inclusive Access models a plus
  • Experience working with and supporting agile teams, training project managers in agile, following best practices as well as ability to work with non-agile teams
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on emerging technologies and product development practices
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiation, and conflict management
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude in helping to use your skills and talents to support the team in launching new products and services
  • Proven track record in launching and supporting successful websites, software products and services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working directly across multiple stakeholder types of various cultural & organizational background
  • Experience working with external third parties utilizing both traditional and rapid/lightweight project management practices desired
  • Strong work ethic. Self-starting personality with the ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions
