Practice Supervisor (FT)- Pediatric Specialties- West Orange, NJ

Job Summary:

The Clinical Practice Supervisor provides nursing care in the acute care setting within the scope of practice defined by the Nursing Practice Act and regulatory standards. The Clinical Practice Supervisor will also provide nursing support to one Pediatric Rheumatologist. The Clinical Practice Supervisor assists in directing and supervising CMAs, MA externs, and all functions/activities in a patient care setting.

Hours: Monday 9A-5:30P, Tuesday 9:30A-8P, Wednesday 9A-5:30P, Thursday 9A-5:30P & Friday 8A-2:30P

Location: West Orange, NJ. Minimal travel to other practice site locations in the Northern Region.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for clinical orders, clinical equipment, CPR certification for staff, schedule and performance plus for CMAs
  • Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employee, physician, patient, visitor, and guests
  • Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs
  • Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility
  • Follows through on all customer requests and inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Utilizes principles of CQI in all work situations.
  • Seeks feedback and recommendations from others to improve the quality, processes and services.
  • Contributes to improving quality services and productivity (takes the initiative to continually evaluate one s work, report problems, suggest solutions and try new ideas)
  • Effectively allocates and schedules resources.
  • Able to project and appropriately staff the unit/department to effectively function to demand.
  • Utilizes resources, both labor and non-labor to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Adheres to budgetary guidelines and targets-proactively manages budget variances and causes.
  • Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them.
  • Follows sound employee retention techniques; effective selection and interviewing, recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback
  • Interacts constructively, tactfully and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce
  • Completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments.
  • Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals.
  • Assists the physician(s) with patients. Including preparing patients and the examination rooms, taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, making lab and x-ray appointments, and explaining the preparations to the patients.
  • Back up for Practice Manager in the absence of Practice Manager in conjunction with Front office Supervisor.
  • Checks dating of medical supplies or assigns process to other employee.
  • Gives instructions to patients as instructed by physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

Job Requirements:

  • AS/AS Degrees; BSN Degree preferred.
  • Two to three years experience in related specialty.
  • Current NJ Licensure required, LPN or RN.
  • Previous office supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus
