Power Dispatcher Shift Supervisor – Electric Power Distribution

  • Provides oversight and support to all agreement employees assigned to the Power Dispatch Center and ensures the highest level of safety, accuracy, and professionalism is exhibited by the entire staff. 
  • Responsible for on-shift management within the 24-hour, 7-day operations of the Power Dispatch Center.
  • Provides technical oversight of Traction, Signal, Transmission, and Distribution Electrical Power to all NJ TRANSIT Rail infrastructure. 
  • Ensures thorough, accurate, and complete transfer of knowledge between power dispatchers during shift changes. 
  • Reviews all planned and operational switching and tagging, oversees emergency switching and tagging, and coordinates all necessary communications to various management, agencies, etc. as required. 
  • During system emergencies, communicates to management, ensures that contingency switching is properly executed, and provides technical guidance to power dispatchers all in accordance with NJ TRANSIT rules AND guidelines. 
  • Ensures that all power dispatcher documents and reports are properly written, compiled, distributed, and filed, including outage tracking, system anomalies conditions, clearances, out-of-service device lists, etc. 
  • Writes, compiles files, and provides documents and reports on system operations, root cause analysis, tracking, and trending of equipment maintenance, state-of-good­ repair, and out-of-service devices, etc. 
  • Provide mentoring, support, and formal training of power dispatchers to ensure a high level of competence and professionalism within the office. 
  • Supports Power Dispatch Office management with assigned duties, including reports, CAAD, spreadsheets, engineering, project management, documentation, filing, etc. 
  • Manages TMAC logs, maintenance, upgrades, reports, etc. to ensure system accuracy and safe operations. Responds to system emergencies, as well as provides support on a 24/7 daily basis. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related area. 
  • Three (3) years of applied experience in electrical operations, including prior supervisory responsibility, such as delegating work, following-up, coaching, and counseling. 
  • Knowledge of three-phase power, relays, and protection, substation, transmission, and/or distribution systems required. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Computer-Aided Design. 
  • One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
