The Global IT Director will develop, maintain and execute the global ALAM IT strategy, interfacing and aligning with Air Liquide Group and Americas IT leadership.

This role manages and makes strategic decisions regarding application development, application architecture, project management, and application vendors.

The role also manages the infrastructure needs of the global BU as the interface to GIO (Global Infrastructure Services), with local IT staff executing in this framework

Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Champion the governance process to select, evaluate, and prioritize projects consistent with Air Liquide (AL) Group standards for possible implementation, as well as provide for post implementation assessments and support Maintain a pipeline of application development ideas so that a strong slate of enhancement requests is always in process
  • Ensure the ALAM IT roadmap is current, communicated, and in line with business and Group goals.

    Compare new ideas with existing roadmaps to ensure complementary development efforts are undertaken and that work is not duplicated or in conflict with existing projects

  • Act as the relay and champion for future strategic digital projects as they are developed by the Electronics Digital Fab and other AL Group initiatives
  • Ensure the outputs of the idea pipeline are sufficiently documented and communicated so that official projects can be easily initiated
  • Perform strategic reviews with major application vendors to ensure they provide services in line with AL needs.

    As appropriate, be a global stakeholder within AL Group IT’s Vendor Management Process

  • Interface with AL Group and Americas IT leadership to ensure ALAM IT standards and strategy are in sync with the rest of AL
  • Leverage AL global best practices to enhance the IT capability of ALAM
  • Propose, achieve validation, and deliver the strategic plan to achieve a truly global ALAM IT solution recognizing that different AL entities have different solutions

Operations and Communication

  • Oversee all ALAM ERP and systems projects-ensuring quality implementations, on-time completions, budget control and overall stakeholder satisfaction
  • Build organizational capability through continuous improvement activities; originate action to improve existing conditions and processes; identify improvement opportunities, generate ideas, and implement solutions
  • Establish and maintain an accurate quantification of the ALAM IT costs, including IT costs and resources embedded outside of IT departments
  • Install on-going actionable and meaningful performance metrics to track effectiveness of IT investments
  • Develop scorecards and dashboards to enhance IT transparency of the idea pipeline to executive and middle management in the business units, as well as ensure clarity for responsible parties within IT
  • Ensure application, security, and infrastructure services are presented in a clear way to business users
  • Publish SLAs for all major IT services and communicate IT’s performance to users
  • Oversee employee training for IT applications
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and performance management of the ALAM IT staff, including training, development and work direction
  • Support staffing and recruitment as required
  • Conceive and drive innovative and effective technology solutions to business needs
  • Support IT needs related to industrial automation systems
  • Seek and deliver synergies and cost savings with other AL entities
  • Define IT group performance metrics to include, but not limited to, safety, quality, customer satisfaction, operational performance, and cost

Required Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification

  • Required: Accredited BS/BA degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years work experience in IT application development, including significant positions responsible for resource allocation, systems analysis and management, financial analysis, and organizational development.
  • Significant experience with SAP software, at least one custom development language, and the Google suite of scripting modules.
  • Led or participated in at least three ERP implementations; at least one in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in IT development methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of information technology software architecture and integration.
  • Strong strategic and business mindset.
  • Korean and Japanese language proficiency is a plus.
