Director of Transportation Compliance

This is a Full-time position in Avenel, NJ posted November 23, 2021.

The primary purpose of the position is work with Operations and Service Center EH&S Managers to ensure that Service Centers are in compliance with all transportation, environmental, quality, and company standards specializing in Dept.

of Transportation regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be proficient in the requirements of Dept of Transportation and ensure that those policies and programs are also be followed.

Develops and maintains DOT qualification program.

Performs daily updates and regularly reviews data in DOT Qualification System for accuracy and compliance.

Develops and maintains Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) safety sensitive program, including data gathering and reporting for company employees and contractors.

Develop and initiates monthly reports out of DQ system and other sources as requested.

Supports the development of transportation regulatory plans or programs for assigned state or federal jurisdiction to meet corporate compliance.

Obtain, analyze, and communicate critical transportation regulatory information for use by management and related departments.

Provides technical expertise to other personnel who may be assigned to assist in carrying out projects and assignments.

Timely follow-up on violations as a result of internal audits or external issues.

Coordinate and Oversee Drug and Alcohol testing programs including FMCSA, PHMSA, and FRA

Maintain quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting required by customers and third-party administration sites

Oversee, Investigate and follow up on vehicle accidents and ensuring requirements of DOT drug and alcohol post-accident testing.

Investigate incidents & accidents, Work with Service Center EHS Managers to prepare written reports and make recommendations for corrective actions.

Additionally participate/ lead Incident Review Team meetings as necessary.

Oversee and manage GPS system, EZ passes, tickets/ violations, and DOT Roadside Inspection reports.

File DataQ citation appeals as needed

Training: Develop and provide training for various DOT programs such as Driver Awareness, Hours of Service, DOT Haz Materials & Security, DOT Supervisor Drug & Alcohol training.

Oversight: Will have oversight of Transportation Permit Coordinator and DOT Administration Coordinator.
Qualifications
4 year degree in a science discipline preferred

Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and knowledge of DOT Regulations (FMCSA, PHMSA, FRA)

Must be capable of acquiring and holding a CDL.

Most of the work is performed in an office environment.

The employee will be required to make field visits for the purposes of audits, inspections, and weighing of vehicles.
