About the role

What you need to know:

  • Handling/monitoring of general liability, premises, products, and auto claims arising from losses occurring both inside and outside the US.

    The claims include bodily injury, property damage, economic loss and any other casualty exposures under general liability and commercial auto policies. 

  • Timely confirm coverage, identify, and address any coverage issues, timely and accurately set reserves, determine the appropriate investigation, complete any required reports, evaluate, negotiate and resolve the losses inclusive of attending any mediations or trials at manager’s discretion. 
  • Evaluating alleged losses and identifying potential exposures based upon the facts of the claim and your own knowledge and experience. 
  • Ability to handle large and complex US litigations including retaining and directing outside defense counsel. 
  • Direct and manage litigation for claims handled by the overseas AIG office.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers including insureds, underwriters, brokers, and foreign offices.
  • Some travel may be required for account meetings, claim reviews, audits, and settlement conferences.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.

    Multi-state adjuster licenses and/or JD highly preferred.

  • Well-established track record of claim handling experience with general liability and/or auto losses with preliminary investigation and direct negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel to mediations and/or trials.

    Ability to work independently.

  • Foreign language skills would be highly valued.
  • Proven ability to analyze policies of insurance and legal documents.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
