We’re looking for a Sr. Business Data Analyst who is a team player, able to collaborate well and communicate effectively with internal business partners, system operators, 3rd party data suppliers, other IT/data vendors, and other IT staff members. This Sr. Business Data Analyst will be working closely with senior IT and Data team members troubleshooting and correcting errors, making recommendations to enhance performance, and automating deployment of security settings. You will be consulted on system options as well.

This individual would be responsible for understanding life science (healthcare) platforms and datasets such as, Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault, IQVIA, Symphony, and marketing data. In addition to that, provide insight in advanced business analysis, conduct needs assessments, configure apps, as required, and also assist in key functions involving client and staff development, training and on-going client support.


NextShift is seeking a motivated, hands-on Sr. Business Data Analyst for a key Life Sciences client. In this role the incumbent collaborates with the client team on a daily basis as an extension of their team. As a key member of this team you would manage distribution of data sources and vendor relations as a member of the client team. The objective will be to deliver business value through documentation and creating, maintaining, and presenting actionable client data insights. The incumbent will partner with internal business members at the client and NextShift to ensure delivery of data projects by profiling datasets, presenting data model requirements, validating quality of data, and providing day-to-day oversight of the client data quality. This function facilitates client business growth for our client and NextShift through improved data quality / completeness and simplified data management. The successful team member will possess strong analytical skills, a demonstrable ability to analyze data to enhance and operate processes that create and maintain data in the client data warehouse. This role requires a continuous analytical assessment of the client reference master data and CRM data to assess the effectiveness and quality of distribution data management efforts. This ensures client information is of the highest accuracy and completeness prior to populating the clients internal systems and reporting applications.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the client data profile quality efforts to assess and ensure ongoing accuracy of information across the client and with data suppliers and customers.
  • Develop data prototypes to confirm business requirements and expectations to IT.
  • Understand CRM (Veeva CRM a plus) and the business implications to the commercial team at the client
  • Develop and participate in the review of requirements, data mappings, use cases and other artifacts to communicate system requirements to the technical team.
  • Enrich the client data through routine uploads of new dimensional data.
  • Provide client support for questions regarding data.
  • Provide ad hoc querying support for data analysis by various client groups.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree required, preferably in a business-or technology-related field of study. A Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 5 years professional experience with data analysis, including an understanding of entity relationship modeling and/or dimensional modeling.
  • 3 years of experience within the Life Science industry preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with key Data Management principles, master data management, reference data management, data cataloguing, policies/procedures, management information and/or data engineering.
  • A high technical capability, including proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts, as well as Microsoft Office tools.
  • Competent in analytical tools such as R, Python.
  • Proactively curious, self-sufficient professional able to convey complex ideas and datasets to actionable uses for CRM (Veeva preferred), reporting, and business analytics.
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate across all levels, document requirements, and lead key requirement workshops.
