The Division of Consumer Affairs is looking for a Legal Specialist to join its team! ABOUT DCA:The NJ Division of Consumer Affairs’ mission is to protect the public from fraud, deceit, misrepresentation and professional misconduct in the sale of goods and services in New Jersey through education, advocacy, regulation and enforcement. The Division pursues its mission through its 51 professional and occupational boards that oversee 720,000 licensees in the state, its Regulated Business section that oversees 60,000 NJ registered businesses, as well as through its Office of Consumer Protection, Bureau of Securities, Charities Registration section, Office of Weights and Measures, and Legalized Games of Chance section. DUTIES:  The Legal Specialist (Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs) performs confidential legislative, legal, and policy influencing research related to Division programs, pending and existing legislation, in conformance with guidelines established by the Attorney General.  The Legal Specialist will also: Formulate and transmit requests for legal advice on behalf of the Division and its professional licensing boards, regulated business sections, and consumer protection units.Prepare reports and recommendations on the impact of proposed or existing legislation.Does related work as required. REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited law school with Juris Doctor (J.D.) or a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree – OR – Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of experience involving legal or legislative research, drafting of rules, regulations, legislation, amendments, and/or the interpretation of statutes. Appointees currently matriculating in an accredited law school as an LL.B or J.D. candidate may substitute such enrollment for the three (3) years of required experience on a year-for-year basis.  Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory experience in the provision of legal, legislative or regulatory services in a government agency. We strongly encourage applicants to submit their resume with attachments for #21-401 directly through our company website. For complete details regarding salary and requirements, please visit:
