    • I. Summary
    • An SEP mechanic is responsible for carrying out various maintenance tasks, in a metals recycling facility.  Maintaining and inspection of conveyors & belting, pumps, valves, motors and metal separation equipment.  Carry out preventive maintenance to ensure that industrial machines remain operational.


    1. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    • Troubleshoot and maintain conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pumps and valves
    • Identify faulty equipment through observation and daily equipment checks
    • Grease equipment periodically
    • Observe safety procedures, LOTO, Rigging, and Confined Space.
    • Attend daily shift meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime
    • Safely operate power tools, hand tools and other specialty tools.
    • Prepare maintenance reports and summary presentations using daily activity logs and    analysis
    • Maintain mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading
    • Ability to operate grinders, cutting torches and welders to perform small repairs.
    • Clean up at the end of shift to make sure job site remains organized and is clutter free
    • Ensure every job is done & completed in a safely manner according to the workplace regulations
  1. Required Skills / Abilities
    • Minimum of 3 years industrial maintenance
    • Be able to read a tape measure and blue print reading.
    • Equipment Operation i.e. Tele-handlers, high reach, scissor lifts and fork lifts
    • Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools
    • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
    • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations
  2. Education & Experience
    • High School diploma or Equivalent
    • Current knowledge of the latest OSHA and industry safety measures, precautions, equipment  
    • Knowledge in Rigging and mobile equipment operation
  3. Other Job Demands
    • Work is performed outdoors in all-weather elements such as hot, cold, rain, or snow.  Safety glasses, Durable pants, Steel toed boots, safety gloves, high visibility vests are always required to be worn.  Hearing protection, and other PPE to be provided on an as needed basis. 
    • Working hours may vary and evening or weekend work may be required.
    • Work involves considerable stooping, bending, walking and standing.
    • Confined Space and respirator wear may be required.
