COMAR: Master Mold Mechanic

Vocational or trade school in related trade is a plus.

Completed machinist apprenticeship or journeyman program with measurement technique certification.

3+ years’ work experience in setting up and the operation of CNC Mills, Lathes, drill press, grinders sand blaster and other machining equipment.

3+ years’ experience using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and other precision measuring equipment.Responsibilities: Perform advanced preventative maintenance or repairs on molds and tooling to bring back to specification.

Troubleshoot and perform advance root cause analysis on problem molds and tooling.

Interact with Engineering, vendors, and mold/machine shops as needed to quote, schedule and manage tooling refurbishments or repair costs and work and track as needed.

Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

Support new mold or tooling design projects from design and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics.

Assist management in leading the day to day operations of the tool shop, delivering efficient, high quality, on-time service to customers and manufacturing plants.

Regularly drive, participate and recommend continuous improvement projects for the shop.

Ensure tooling is fully capable, available, and able to run at standard efficiency or better while producing quality components for our customers.

Read prints, sketches, CAD files of products, molds or tooling, and compute specifications, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and mold design, plastics or molding processes and machinery, and communicate design concepts and functionality to Engineering.

Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.

Design tools, fixtures, or other devices for production/molding equipment as needed.

Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend, to Setup and Production, changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability.

Train mold technicians and mechanics, developing their skill levels.The Location: This position is based in our Buena, NJ manufacturing facility.We are looking for YOU to join our team.
