THE ROLE: Internal Job Title

Presidio is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team in Morristown, NJ.

Our business is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Network Engineer to be a part of a team that supports our client base throughout Northern New Jersey and New York City.

This individual’s primary responsibility will be to execute multi-faceted engagements for our customers. This individual will manage small to large projects on their own, from design to implementation to troubleshooting, as well as being a team member on complex engagements involving multiple technologies. The engineer will be responsible for projects, upgrades, documentation, and troubleshooting with a focus on our customers across the Northern New Jersey and New York City area.

This is a hands-on role and the individual will ensure services are completed successfully, efficiently, and within budget; and have met or exceeded client expectations. In this role you will act as a focal point for client problem resolution, lead design workshops and support pre-sales activity for complex solutions when needed. You will consistently evaluate, develop and refine technical deployment methodologies & documentation. The ideal candidate will have functioned in a senior engineering role or as a client-facing technical consultant. This individual should have the ability to interface with management in order to align business objectives and strategies, as well as customer and vendor engineers to validate designs and configurations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • Must have 5+ years of related experience with project Deliverables from a VAR/Integrator
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Core Routing and Switching platforms with focus on design, configuration, and troubleshooting using Cisco Best Practices
    • Routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP. Redistribution of protocols and loop prevention
    • Switching: Spanning Tree Protocol, Physical Stacking, Stack-wise Technologies
    • VoIP: Configure and support Voice on Routing and Switching platforms
    • QoS: Able to configure and troubleshoot Quality of Service parameters on various platform
    • Security: Configure various security parameters and harden access to devices
    • Troubleshooting: Expert level in routing and switching troubleshooting

Preferred Skills:

  • Active Cisco certification; CCNP, CCIE preferred
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN): ACI, NSX
    • Perform migration from traditional data center network designs to Cisco ACI in Network and Application Centric
    • Spine and Leaf connectivity, L2 and L3 outs
    • Interconnecting legacy systems with ACI
    • Segmentation (or micro segmentation) of network and hosts
    • VMM and other similar technologies
  • Aruba Networking
    • Experience with Aruba CX and Aruba OS software
    • VSX and VSF technologies
    • High availability configurations
  • Juniper
    • Solid understanding and hands on experience on both Routing and switching platforms
  • Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN): Cisco/Viptela, Palo Alto/CloudGenix, FortiNet, SilverPeak
  • Automation / Scripting Python, EMM and TCL
  • Cloud Networking: AWS, Azure, GCP in Networking context
  • Deep Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack, TCP/IP headers and packets, the OSI model, and commonly used TCP/UDP ports and associated services

    • ISE – NAC, Posture, and Provisioning for Wired, Wireless, and VPN

  • Excellent understanding of VPN (site to site, remote access (SSL, clientless), IPSec, IKE)
  • Content Security (Cisco/Ironport ESA/WSA, WebSense, WAF, etc.)
  • Wireless: Cisco, Aruba, Ekahau, AirMagnet
  • SIEM Platforms: LogRhythm, Splunk
  • Working knowledge of common OS and domain structures (Red Hat Linux, Oracle/Sun, Windows, Active Directory, etc.), servers, services, and associated vulnerabilities
