The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Manager U.S.

Medical Affairs Pain, are to:

  • Provide medical guidance and category knowledge to support existing and new product promotional activities and participate at local review/approval process;
  • Lead the development, planning and implementation of medical/clinical programs in support of assigned brands;
  • Maintain responsibility for point of view claim/product development, publication monitoring and claim support;
  • Interpret clinical study data and medical literature search material relevant to categories;
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders as well as key opinion leaders, societies and institutions while working with emerging scientific discovery to keep the competitive edge of the assigned product brands;
  • Serve to provide medical guidance and category knowledge to address the project needs of our organization including Commercial/Marketing colleagues, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Consumer Relations, Legal, Global Medical Affairs and other internal and external local and global colleagues;
  • Serve to help drive the innovation research efforts forward so that new products, claims substantiation and other business needs may be approved rapidly and positioned more competitively in the consumer marketplace as well as maintaining and growing our current brands.

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D.

    or PharmD with at least two years post graduate training or equivalent experience in the life sciences / pharmaceutical/consumer health industry;

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team setting;
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in medical affairs, and/or clinical research and development;
  • Experience working with the brand team and other cross functional business partners;
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written;
  • Ability to interact collaboratively and influence colleagues at all levels within Bayer;
  • Knowledge of scientific information searches, key opinion leader development and clinical knowledge;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to network, are necessary to present critical medical and scientific information to internal departments, and to positively interact with external customers, medical thought leaders, and academic communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the relevant category.
