Senior Manager, R&D, Clinical Diagnostics Procurement

The Senior Manager within Clinical Diagnostics will have strategic sourcing and global procurement responsibility for our Clinical Diagnostics providers.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Develops and drives strategy within the Clinical Diagnostics category to meet the needs of Global Biological Specimen and Imaging Management (GBSIM) business units within R&D.

Provides procurement strategic and operational oversight to drive support and business continuity of clinical trial activities.

Collaborates with R&D to understand their business and requirements.

Applies business analytics to end-to-end business processes and value chain and translates into recommendations and category management action plans to drive best value for Company.

Develop, maintain, and implement a 3–5-year strategic plan and ensure all projects supporting the strategic plan deliver maximum value.

Creates robust and appropriate Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs for the categories via category and supplier segmentation, metrics/KPI development and application, scorecards, contract management, etc.

Facilitates continuous improvement and innovation that will enable R&D, category, and functional leads to achieve strategic objectives.

Directs extended team in execution of sourcing tactics: development of Requests for Information/Proposal, specifications, terms, and conditions, SLAs/KPIs or acceptance criteria; evaluating the market and assessing suppliers; evaluating competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for goods or services.

Develops and negotiates complex contracts in concert with Legal and R&D.

Implements best in class Supplier Relationship Management framework with key suppliers focused on innovation, total value, and long-term growth strategies.

Bachelor’s degree is required; MS/MBA preferred.

Minimum 7 years business experience, 5-7 years procurement experience preferred or Masters with a minimum 2 years’ experience.

Prior R&D experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry required.

Thorough understanding of purchasing including category management negotiations, methodologies for measuring the value of procurement decisions (financial and qualitative), contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, and supplier relationship management.

Expertise in internal stakeholder management, continuous improvement, and project management.

Must have the ability to communicate to multiple levels within company and influence decision making

Has the ability to manage business complexities and provide road map for sustainable solutions.
