In 2018, the Medical Center earned designation in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.We are currently looking for a Pharmacy Technician (Per Diem) to assist in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in – dispensing, preparing, and distributing, all medications and pharmaceutical products for our patients. The incumbent will work in our environment where the highest professional and ethical standards are maintained, as well as full compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. In addition to demonstrating ethical conduct and maintain patient confidentiality at all times, you will also be accountable for the following duties:You Will:* Effectively communicate, answer phones promptly, take messages and relay information to the registered pharmacist, facilitating open communication between pharmacy department and other health care practitioners.* Complete cart fill sheets, stock out sheets and floor stock sheets.* Perform daily cassette exchanges on patient care units, check areas for outdated, discharged and discontinued medications, replace needed floor stock, picks up orders and delivers medications to units.* Under the direction of a registered Pharmacist, prepares medications for dispensing in a timely manner and maintains the unit dose system, performing dosage calculations and labels appropriately.* Restock emergency trays for patient care areas, prepares IV medications using aseptic techniques, repackaging of medications into unit dose packages.* Document activities in Pharmacy documentation software.* Maintain departmental premises and equipment and cleanliness of the work area; dispose non-reusable items properly.* Follow proper safety and infection control procedures.* Assist in the proper receipt, checking and placement into pharmacy stock of incoming vendor, medication and supply orders.* Fill automated dispensing cabinets in patient care areas, delivers, and places medications into machines accurately, according to procedures.* Comply with all applicable policies and procedures set forth by the Department of Pharmacy.* Complete required departmental and hospital competencies.* Provide educational rotations for pharmacy students as required and participates in staff training.* Maintain and demonstrate knowledge in the following areas of Pharmacy practice: calculations, generic-trade name relationships, special properties of IV admixtures, stability of IV preparations, contraindications, chemical formulas, abbreviations, common conversions and symbols, maintains and demonstrates awareness of limitations of technicians.* Perform other duties as assigned to ensure patient care needs are met.You Are:* Willing and flexible to work alternating and rotating work schedules.* Able to manage all assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to support the team s ability to promptly, safely and accurately fill patient prescriptions.* Cable of providing caring service that exceeds customer expectations.* Polite and friendly; constantly demonstrating compassion and genuine care for all patients and customers.* Excited about working in fast-paced environment.You Have:* A High School Diploma or equivalent education (required).* Associate Degree (preferred).* One (1) year of Pharmacy experience (preferred).* Registration in NJ within 180 days of employment* PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) within 6 months of employment.* Exceptionally strong interpersonal skills.
